Themes:
Hope and Rebellion
Rich vs Poor
Struggle for power

Find Quotes from characters in the film and explain why they are important in showing each theme.

"I just keep wishing I could think of a way to show them that they don't own me. You know, if I'm going to die, I want to still be me." - Peeta Mellark This quote is important to the theme of Hope and Rebellion because it shows that Peeta is starting to have hope for his life and the rebellion. It is also important to the theme of the struggle for power because he is struggling to stay alive while in the games.

"I must now become the actual leader, the face, the voice the embodiment of revolution." - Katniss Everdeen This is important to the theme of Hope and Rebellion because Katniss is starting to realise that she can be the start of a new life for the not only her district but the other district who are also suffering.

"Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favour." - Effie Trinket
This is also very important to the theme of hope and rebellion because the odds are never in the favour of the districts and this can spark a rebellion against the Capitol.

"Hope, it is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is effective, a lot of hope is dangerous. A spark is fine, as long as it's contained." - President Snow, This shows that President Snow is afraid of hope and he wants hope to be contained, he wants hope to be just a spark where in just a few seconds it's gonna disappear.

"I told her I was going to try to win for her." -Katniss Everdeen This quote showed the theme of the struggle for power because you can tell that Katniss is struggling to get her freedom back and to go home to her family and to go home to her family she needs the power a lot of it.

What am I learning? I'm learning how to analyse the theme of a film.
How does this work show my learning? This work shows my learning by finding quotes and relating them to the themes.
What am I wondering as a  result of this learning? I'm wondering if a theme is made alive by the director or the writer.
