You’re cleaning out your garage and, hidden away in a back corner, you find an old shoebox. The box is heavier than it should be. When you open it up, you find cash—$40,000, to be exact. Where did the cash come from, who hid it there and why?
I was sitting on my couch when I thought of how my garage is messy and how I haven't cleaned it for months. I stood up and opened the door leading to my garage, I looked around and my face scrunched from disgust. I went inside to grab cleaning supplies and went back to the garage. I started grabbing items and putting them inside a box so I can clean them and sort them afterwards. I saw an old shoebox in the back of the stacked items, I stretched my arms and grabbed it. It was heavier than I thought it was gonna be, it must still have shoes inside, but I don't remember leaving shoes here. I placed it on top of a box and opened it, I was shocked to see $40,000 who could've left them here? I stood up and carried the box inside, now that I think about it, this house used to be lived in by my grandparents. I grabbed my phone and decided to call my mum, "Hey, mum, do you remember an old shoebox from grandad's house?" I said while looking at the box "Not really, no." replied my mum "Can you come here and take a look?" "Sure, Your dad and I will be there." "Thanks." I ended the call and sat down on the couch thinking who could've owned this much money. I didn't realise I was spacing out until someone rang the doorbell. I stood up and opened the door, I was greeted with my mum kissing my cheeks "Hi, what did you wanna show us?" asked dad "It's over here" I spoke while walking towards the living room. I showed them the shoebox filled with money, mum was shocked by all the money "Maybe we should call grandad," Said Dad "I'll do it." he continued. A few hours later grandad arrived "Yeah, yeah I remember now." "Your grandma and I used to dream of living a life where we were able to support our grandchildren, over the years we collected our money until we just forgot about it." he said, "Then you can have it since you earned it." I replied, "No, no, remember we earned that for you, you take it." he said back.
